Consumption of carcass after snake envenomation as the cause of death

Ryan Van Deventer, [19 Sep 2023 at 16:45:28]:

Hi guys, can anybody offer any advice on the consumption of or the use of a carcass for a bait that is suspected of having died from snake envenomation? My feeling is that it probably would be safe due to the denaturalising of the proteins? MM entry if damaged? Thank you.

Snake venoms are complex proteins and would be digested like any other protein. They are not systemically active by mouth.
